15 REMAIN IN THE FINGER ON THE APP CHALLENGE _ Finger on the App is an app in which players must keep their finger on their smartphone screen (and occasionally move it to a new spot indicated by the app, to prevent cheating). The last person to keep their finger on the app wins a prize of up to $25,000. Over two days later, 15 players are still vying for the prize. The game started with 1.3 million players. • CHECK
MAN HANDS OUT FREE COFFEE FROM KITCHEN WINDOW _ From his kitchen window, Ben Ramirez is handing out free coffee and a smile to people in his San Francisco neighborhood. On average, Ramirez makes about 10 to 15 cups a day. His “regulars” are essential workers. In compliance with the six-feet social distancing guideline, he hands out the coffee with a toy gorilla arm, an idea given to him by his five-year-old son, Luca.
OVER $102,000 RAISED FOR STARBUCKS EMPLOYEE _ I have an update for you. Last month a San Diego Starbucks employee refused to serve a customer who wasn’t wearing a mask, so she took a photo of him and posted it on Facebook. Within hours the post went viral, bringing more than 133,000 comments — most criticizing Amber Lynn Gilles. Starbucks backed their employee, Lenin Gutierrez, and a coworker put up a “virtual tip jar” on GoFundMe for the barista. As of today the amount raised is over $102,000. • LINK
WACKY-BUT-TRUE: DRUNK BEAR OUTSMARTS FARMER’S HONEY TRAP _ A Chinese villager was disappointed to find the bear that had been terrorizing his chickens could also hold its liquor. The poultry farmer had plotted to trap the black bear by baiting it with honey mixed with two liters of strong alcohol. The next morning he found the spiked honey gone and two dead chickens.

She asked if I would go out and check to make sure she did it right. I said she only needs to check the required PSI. on the side of the tire and match the tire gauge to that. She said she never knows which number that is, as there are so many on the tire, and that they need to make tires "more user-friendly."

ICE CREAM SHOP WANTS CUSTOMERS TO STOP YELLING AT EMPLOYEES _ An ice cream shop in Berea, Ohio, is asking customers to lay off employees after a few guests have yelled at them for wearing masks. Mootown Creamery said guests have cussed at the teenage employees and have made a few of them cry. The shop said in a Facebook post: “Our lives are flipped upside down. Businesses are closing. Some of us are still out of work. We are stressed out, worried, and frustrated. However that is no excuse to take out your frustrations on teenage kids serving ice cream.” (AUDIO)

FIREWORKS FAIL _ From a few years ago, a reminder of how not to do fireworks. In Nebraska a guy got ahold of a commercial-grade fireworks shell. But he didn’t have a proper launch tube for it. So this guy put the shell in a five-gallon bucket with a chunk of concrete in the base and lit the fuse. The shell exploded in the bucket — only the chunk of concrete went flying, hitting the guy in the face even though he was 60 feet away. The guy’s jaw was broken and several teeth were knocked out.
JASON MOMOA IN TALKS TO VOICE FROSTY THE SNOWMAN FOR MOVIE _ Aquaman Jason Momoa is in negotiations to star as Frosty the Snowman in a live action/CG hybrid movie. The script will be co-written by a couple of guys who wrote the script for Elf, which stars Will Farrell.

COUCH TO 5K APP DOWNLOADS SOAR _ Downloads of Couch to 5K fitness apps have soared as people attempt to shed weight gained in lockdown. Most of the apps are designed for beginners and encourages them to incrementally increase the amount they run each week. From March to the end of June Couch to 5K app downloads have nearly doubled.
WACKY-BUT-TRUE: BURGLARS JUMP BADLY _ In Spain two men were arrested for burglary by officers responding to an emergency call. The suspects’ getaway ended abruptly when, as they leaped off of a low balcony, the 17-year-old landed on top of the 22-year-old and suffered a badly sprained ankle, while leaving his colleague with a fractured skull, broken ribs, a broken collarbone, and a collapsed lung.

HBO RENEWS CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM FOR SEASON 11 _ Larry David’s HBO character will likely get to tackle the pandemic thanks to the Season 11 renewal of Curb Your Enthusiasm. David said in a statement: “Believe me, I’m as upset about this as you are. One day I can only hope that HBO will come to their senses and grant me the cancellation I so richly deserve.”
